In order to keep this stitch a little neat you will need a ruler or I borrowed a little gadget from the quilters called “Seams Right” that can be purchased at Walmart. It is a plastic ruler with 17 measurements (1/4, 3/8, 1 ½) up to 2 inches. You do not have to use it but it does make things easier. To start: ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook. * Now pull on your hook to make the loop(the one on your hook) longer to ¾ of an inch, these are the 2 FRONT loops. Move your hold(yarn hand not hook hand) to just above the sc made at beginning, hold it taut. This keeps the loop you just made from getting bigger/smaller. Yarn Over make sure it is the same length as your loop, still hold on, pull through loop on your hook, this is the BACK loop. You now should have 3 approximately the same length of thread. Insert your hook in between the 2 FRONT loops and the BACK loop, Yarn over pull through, you now have 2 small loops on your hook, yarn over pull through both loops*. Repeat from * to * for desired length. The trick to keeping this stitch neat is your base/beginning and turning knots must be just a little shorter in length than the other Solomon Knot. For example to begin make 6 SK(Solomon knot) ¾ of an inch long , 1 SK 1 inch long, turn. Row 1: sc in 3rd sc from hook , 2 -1 inch long SK, skip next sc, sc in next sc, 2 -1 inch long SK, skip next sc, sc in next sc, 2 SK ¾ inch long, 1 SK 1 inch long turn. Row 2: sc in 4th sc from hook, 2 -1 inch long SK, skip next sc, sc in next sc, 2 -1 inch long SK , skip next sc, sc in next sc, 2 SK ¾ inch long, 1 SK 1 inch long turn. Repeat row 2 for desired length. To end off you would make your last row all ¾ inch long.
