The original pattern calls for Bernat Krystal but you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>can use Red Heart worsted weight or whatever will give you the below gauge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gauge 5 sts = 2 inches<br>Size J hook<br>MC \u2013 4 oz<br>Small amount of 4 different colors of yarn A, B, C, D<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HAT<br>STRIPING PATTERN: C, D, A, B,C,MC,A, D,A, Band C. 1 round each Colors<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Long DC: work 1 d c in s c in round below ch 1 space of previous round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using M C, ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring. Round 1: Ch 3, 2 d c<br>in each of next 3 ch sts, 1 d c in last st, join with a sl st. Round 2: Ch 3,<br>2 d c in each of next 7 d c, 1 d c in next st, join with a sl st \u2011 16 sts.<br>Round 3: Ch 3, * 1 d c in next st, 2 d c in next st, repeat from * around,<br>ending 1 d c in next st, 1 d c in last st, join \u2011 24 sts. Round 4: Ch 3,<br>* 1 d c in each of next 2 sts, 2 d c in next st, repeat from * around, ending<br>1 d c In each of next 2 sts, 1 d c in last st, join \u2013 32 sts. Round 5: Repeat<br>Round 4, having 1 more d c between incs \u2011 8 sts inc.Round 6: Repeat<br>Round 5 \u2011 48 sts. Round 7: * Ch 1, skip next st, 1 s c in next st, repeat<br>from * around \u2011 24 ch 1 spaces. Working in striping pattern work as follows:<br>Round 8: * 1 long d c in next st, 1 s c in next st, repeat from * around \u2013 24<br>long d c&#8217;s. Round 9: 1 s c in each st around \u2011 48 sts. Round 10: Repeat<br>Round 7. Round 11 \u2011 Repeat Round 8. Round 12: INC ROUND: * 1 s c<br>in each of next 5 sts, 2 s c in next st (inc), repeat from * around \u2011 8 sts inc.<br>Round 13: Repeat Round 7. Round 14: Repeat Round 8. Round 15:<br>Repeat Round 9. Round 16: Repeat Round 7. Round 17: Repeat Round 8.<br>Round 18: Repeat Round 9 \u2011 56 sts. Round 19: Using M C and with right<br>side facing you, (ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 s c in next st)3 times, ch 1, skip 1 st,<br>1 s c in each of next 10 sts for right earlap, (ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 s c in next st)<br>12 times,ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 s c in each of next 10 sts for left earlap, (ch 1,<br>skip 1 st, 1 s c in next st) twice, join. Fasten off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RIGHT EAR FLAP AND<br>CHIN STRAP: Row l: Join M C in first s c of 10 sts for earlap and work<br>1 s c in each of next 9 sts. Row 2: Turn, skip first st, 1 s c in each of next<br>8 sts. Continue in this manner to work 1 st less at the beg of EVERY<br>ROW until 1 st remains. DO NOT FASTEN OFF. Ch 24 for chin strap.<br>Fasten off. LEFT EARLAP AND CHIN STRAP: Using M C and with right<br>side facing you, join yarn in first s c and work to correspond to right earlap<br>and chin strap. EDGING: Using Color B and with right side facing you,<br>join yarn in st at centre back and work 1 long d c in next st, 1 s c in next st,<br>repeat from to start of right earlap, 1 s c in each st around earlap and chin<br>strap, working 3 s c in st at end of chin strap, repeat between *&#8217;s around,<br>working left earlap and chin strap in same manner as right earlap and Chin<br>strap, join.
