Before starting this project, please be sure that you have read Entrelac Crochet and Entrelac Crochet #2. These are the basics and should be practiced in order to understand and complete this project.
Material List:
Afghan/Tunisian size J hook
3 oz of worsted weight yarn color A
3 oz of worsted weight yarn color B
Scissors
Yarn Needle
Bind Off: * Insert hook into vertical bar closest to your hook, pick up a loop and pull it thru the vertical bar and the loop on your hook. * repeat from * to * 4 more times. Slip stitch into same chain stitch that you last picked up a loop in (this would be your last afghan/Tunisian stitch)
1st diamond: Pick up a loop in 2nd chain from hook and in next 5 chains. You should now have 7 loops on your hook. Work off all loops on hook. * Pick up loops in next 5 vertical bars, now pick up a loop in the next available chain stitch, you should again have 7 loops on your hook, work off all loops on hook.* Repeat from * to * 3 more times. Bind Off
2nd diamond: Pick up a loop in next 6 chains. You should now have 7 loops on your hook. Work off all loops on hook. * Pick up loops in next 5 vertical bars, now pick up a loop in the next available chain stitch, you should again have 7 loops on your hook, work off all loops on hook.* Repeat from * to * 3 more times. Bind Off
Repeat 2nd diamond and bind off row 4 more times, you will have 6 diamonds, join with a slip stitch to 1st diamond. Cut yarn.
Second color Diamond: Now get out your second color yarn, You will begin this row at your VERY FIRST diamond bind off slip stitch. Attach second color yarn (this will count as your first loop on hook. Pick up a loop in the next 5 slip stitches. Now pick up one more loop in the END stitch of your SECOND diamond, 7 loops on hook. Work off all loops on your hook. * Pick up a loop in the next 5 (color number 2) vertical bars. Now pick up one more loop in the next END stitch of your second diamond. * Repeat from * to * 3 more times. Bind Off
Repeat Second Color Diamond and bind off 5 times, you will have 6 diamonds, join with a slip stitch to 1st second color diamond.
Making sure to switch colors, repeat Second color Diamond row 4 times.
Next row: repeat Second color Diamond except Bind off as follows: ch 5 * Insert hook into vertical bar closest to your hook, pick up a loop and pull it thru the vertical bar and the loop on your hook. * repeat from * to * 4 more times. Slip stitch into same chain stitch that you last picked up a loop in (this would be your last afghan/Tunisian stitch).
With one strand of each color held together, ch 125 or desired length, end off cut yarn. String thru the ch 5 loops around top. Tie a knot in each end, tie one large knot. Use yarn needle to hide ends. Sew bottom of bag by joining diamonds side by side (see picture).
