Simple Sweater

Sizes: 12(14-16) Directions are for size 12, changes for sizes 14 and 16 are in parentheses. Materials: Nomotta Mothproof Festive, 9 (9-10) 1 oz skeins **use Baby Fingering yarn**. Crochet Hook No. 3 Gauge: 7 sts = 1 inch 8 rows = 1 inch

Back: ch 3 sts. End of ch is armhole edge. Sc 2 in 2nd ch from hook end sc 2 in next st. ch 1, turn (shoulder edge). Work in back loop only of each st throughout. Work 2 sc in first sc, sc over each sc to last st, 2 sc in last st. Ch 1, continue in this manner until there are 50 (54-54) sts in all. Now work 2 sc in first sc at shoulder edge only and work across in pattern. Continue in this manner until there are 74 (78-78) sts in all. Do not increase any more at shoulder edge. Ch 66 (68-70). End of ch comes at lower edge of pullover. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each of the next 24 ch (waistband) Work in pattern across all sts. Ch 1, turn. Work in Back loop only of each st throughout. Work sc over each sc and sl st over each sl st of previous row. Ch 1, turn. Continue working in this manner until there are 8 rows on shoulder.

Shape Shoulder: Increase 1 st at shoulder edge and repeat this increase every 8th row until shoulder measures 4 ¾ (5-5 ¼) inches across. Work in pattern until piece measures 8 (81/2 – 9) inches across from side edge of body. Place marker to mark half of back. Continue to work other half of back and sleeve to correspond, reversing shaping *** decreasing instead of increasing.

Front: work same as for back until shoulder is completed ending at lower edge.

Shape Neck: Work across in pattern to within last 8 sts at shoulder. Ch 1, turn. Work back. Dec 2 sts at neck edge every other row 2 times. Work even until front measures 8 (8 ½ – 9) inches across from side edge of body. Place a marker to mark half of front. Continue to work other half of front to correspond, reversing shaping ***decreasing instead of increasing.

Neckband: Ch 8, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each of the next 6 sts across. Ch 1, turn. Work in back loop only of each st throughout. Work sl st over each sl st of previous row. Ch 1, turn, Continue until there are 126 (130-134) rows.

Sleeve Bands: Work same as for neckband until here are 84 ( 88-92)rows.

Finishing: Block all pieces before sewing. Sew sides and shoulders together. Sew neckband around neck, sleeveband around sleeves.
