Approx 4 oz of worsted weight yarn Stitch marker Size H hook or any hook that will give you the below gauge Gauge: 7 sts = 2 inches 3 rounds or rows = 1 inch Starting at top, ch 2. Row 1: 8 sc in 2nd chain from hook,** put a marker in work to mark beg of each round
Row 2: *2 sc in each st (8 sts inc)
Row 3: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around (8 sts inc)
Row 4: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, repeat from * around (8 sts inc)
Row 5: *1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around (8 sts inc) Continue in this manner to increase 8 sts EVERY ROUND, being sure that incs do not come directly over each other, having 1 st more between incs on each inc. round until there are 96 sts in a round, piece should measure approx 9 inches in diameter.
Next 7 rows: work even on 96 sts Band: Row 1: *1 sc in each of next 3 sc, skip next sc, repeat from * around 72 sts. Rows 2 – 4: work even in sc. Join with sl st to first st but DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
Visor: Row 1: 1 sc in next 14 sts, end off
Row 2: with right side facing join yarn in fist st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of last 3 sts, end off
Row 3: With right side facing you, join yarn in band 2 sts from beg of visor, 1 sc in each of these 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts of visor, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of last 4 sts of visor, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts in band, end off. Continue to work 2 more sts of band and 2 more sts at centre of visor between incs EVERY ROW until 8 row of visor have been complete. End off Facing: With wrong side of visor facing you, work to correspond to visor end off Finish: Cut a very stiff piece of cardboard (I recommend plastic canvas) in the shape of the visor.
Insert between visor and facing, with right side facind you, join yarn at beg of visor at band and work 1 sc through both thicknesses of visor and around entire cap. Join with sl st. End off.
