TOP . . . Starting at toe with Rose, ch 16. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across-14 dc counting ch-3 as 1 dc. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in first dc and in each dc across, 2 dc in last dc (1 dc increased at each end). Ch 3, turn. Repeat last row 13 (14, 15) times more. Working along side edge, make 3 dc over bar of each dc and turning chain, dc in each ch of starting chain, work other side to correspond. Ch 3, turn. Next 2 rows: Dc in each dc of previous row. Ch 1, turn. Sc in each dc of previous row and across top. Join with sl st to first sc. Break off and fasten.
STRAP … Ch 7. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 3 ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first dc, dc in next 3 dc, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat last row until Strap fits comfortably around back of foot to front edge. Sew narrow edges in place as shown.
BACK STRAP … Work as for first Strap until length is 2 1/2 inches. Break off and fasten. Sew one narrow edge to center of first Strap as shown. Sc closely around lower edge of first Strap and around outer edges of Back Strap. Working over elastic thread, sc across upper edge of first Strap.
SOLE (Make 2) . . . With double strand of Rose, ch 34 (38, 42). 1st rnd: 5 dc in 4th ch from hook (heel), dc in next 3 ch, h dc in next 2 ch, sc in next 11 (13, 15) ch, h dc in next 2 ch, dc in next 11 (13, 15) ch; 7 dc in last ch (toe). Working along opposite side of starting chain, dc in next 11 (13, 15) ch, h dc in next 2 ch, sc in next 11 (13, 15) ch, h dc in next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch. Join to top of ch 3. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, dc in joining, 2 dc in next 5 sts, dc in each st around, making 2 dc in each of 7 dc at toe. Join as before. Measure 3 1/2 (3 3/4, 4) inches at center from toe end. Place a marker on each side of sole. 3rd rnd: Ch 1, 2 sc in next 12 sts, sc in each st to marker, h dc in next 2 sts, increasing 7 dc evenly across toe, dc in each st to next marker, h dc in next 2 sts, sc in remaining sts. Join to first sc. Next 2 rnds: Ch 1, sc in each st around increasing 7 sc evenly around toe. Join. Break off and fasten. Cut a piece of heavy cardboard slightly smaller than soles. Insert cardboard between the 2 soles and sew together. Sew Top and Back Strap as shown.
ROSE … Starting at center with Pinks, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 1, 32 sc in ring. Join. to first sc. 2nd rnd: Ch 1, sc in joining, (ch 3, skip next 3 ch, sc in next ch) 7 times; ch 3. Join to first sc. 3rd rnd: (In next loop make sc, h dc, 5 dc, h dc and sc) 8 times. Join (8 petals). 4th rnd: Ch 1, sc between last and first petal made; (ch 5. sc between next 2 petals) 7 times. 5th rnd: Work as for 3rd rnd having 7 dc instead of 5 dc in center of each petal. 6th and 7th rnds: Work as for 4th and 5th rnds. 8th rnd: Work as for 4th rnd having a ch-7 loop instead of ch 5. 9th rnd: Work as for 5th rnd making 9 dc in center of each petal. 10th and 11th rnds: Repeat 8th and 9th rnds. 12th rnd: Work as for 4th rnd having a ch-9 loop instead of ch 5. 13th rnd: Work as for 11Ith rnd making 11 dc in center of each petal. 14th and 15th rnds: Repeat l2th and 13th rnds. Break off and fasten. Sew to slipper as shown.
