MATERIALS -ARTICLE 102 “SILKATEEN” “SANSILK” 4 Balls, # 100 White, #1 Cream, # 3 Ecru or Colors —Steel Crochet Hook # 8
Ch 81 for wrist, join, Ch 5, skip 3 sts, forms the opening for,the thumb) work s c in next st, repeat until there are 20 loops, ch 5, s c in first loop and continue work until there are 20 rows of loops.
21st Row- Ch 30, skip 4 loops, s c in next loop (this forms the opening for the thumb) work a row of loops, ch 5, skip 2 stsof ch, s c in next st, *Ch 5, skip 4 sts, s c in next st, repeat from * 4 times, ch 5, sc in next loop, there should be 21 loops in this row. Work 8 more rows of loops and continue loops to left of thumb opening.
Fingers – Left hand. Fold work having the thumb opening at extreme left and work first finger directly over the thumb. Work 3 loops over back of glove, ch 5, s c in 4th loop on palm side of glove leaving 6 free loops for finger, work 6 loops, ch 5 s c in center st of ch between fingers, ch 5 s c in next free loop (7loops). Continue working 5 ch loops until there are 8 rows for a short finger or 10 rows for a long finger ( this difference applies to all fingers), then work 2 rows of 4 ch loops, 2 rows of 3 ch loops, 2 rows of 2 ch loops, ch 2, 1 d c in each loop draw stitches together to close space, fasten thread and break off.
Middle Finger – Join thread to bottom of forefinger on back of glove, work 3 loops, Ch 5, s c in 2nd free loop in palm side of glove, work 1 loop, ch 5 , s c in first loop between fingers, ch 5, s c in next loop between fingers, ch 5, loop in each free loop, ch 5, s c in center st of ch between fingers, ch 5, s c in next free loop ( 7 loops) Continue work until there are 10 rows. Work 3 rows of 4 ch loops, 3 rows of 3 ch loops, 3 rows of 2 ch loops and finish same as forefinger.
Ring Finger – First 10 rows same as Middle Finger and finish same as forefinger.
Little Finger – Work 8 rows of 5 ch meshes and finish same as forefinger.
Thumb – Join thread to lower right side of opening and work 12 loops, work 3 more rows of 12 loops each. Next row, work 3 loops, s c in next loop omitting the ch between, repeat from beginning twice (decreasing 3 loops), work 1 row of loops. Next row, decrease 2 loops on inside of thumb and work 1 more row of loops then work 4 rows of 4 ch loops, 4 rows of 3 ch loops, 1 d c in each loop and finish off same as fingers.
Cuff: 1st Row – 4 s c in each 3 ch loop.
2nd Row – Ch 5 skip 1 st, d c in next st * ch 2, skip 1 st, d c in next st, repeat from * to end of row, ch 2, join (40 meshes).
3rd Row – Sl st to center of mesh, ch 4 * thread over twice, insert in same space, work off 2 loops twice, repeat from * and work off remaining loops on needle, ** Ch 2, 1 tr c in next mesh, ch 2, 1 tr c in same mesh, Ch 2 thread over twice, insert in next mesh, work off 2 loops twice, * thread over twice, insert in same space and work 2 loops twice, repeat from * and work off remaining loops on needle, repeat from ** to end of row, ch 2, join.
4th Row – Sl st to mesh, ch 6 work a petal in loop between tr c of previous row, ch 2, tr c in next loop, ch 2, tr c in next loop, continue to end of row. Repeat the last row twice and work 2 more rows with 3 chs between petals and tr c. Finish cuff with 2 rows of d c. Make other glove to correspond reversing the position of the thumb or work same as left glove to the cuff, turn work inside out ( work is same on both sides ) then work cuff.
